Feng shui mirrors in the bedroom

Image
Question: I know mirrors in the bedroom are a bad idea. But what should I do about the big mirrored sliding doors on my closet? Answer: Try to cover them. These mirrored doors are very common now, especially in California homes where I've seen them most often. And, they're very bad feng shui. Besides causing marital difficulties, they can also cause insomnia. Take care of them by hanging heavy drapes that can be opened and closed at night. Or, you can place a room divider or screen to the side that you can stretch across the mirrors before going to bed to stop the energy from harming you at night.

The 6 House Types that Prevent Prosperity

Image
When your home has a poor arrangement or certain architectural characteristics, you could find that your financial situation is a constant struggle. Particular homes lend themselves to wonderful abundance and material prosperity and yet others offer only financial trial and tribulation for their owners. Some houses are more likely to help the occupants acquire the wealth they desire and those are the homes that have few, if any, feng shui challenges. Of course, every house has challenges, but some are more significant than others. When you look at homes that have more serious obstacles to wealth accumulation , they fall along a number of lines. If your house isn't one of the homes listed below, then count yourself lucky! If you do have a house that has one of the following challenges then you'll be relieved to know there is a reason that money has been such a problem for you. Houses that prevent prosperity are many, but some are more common than others. Below are sev

Feng Shui's Element of Prosperity and Prestige

Image
In feng shui , metal is the element you don't often hear much discussion about. Most often metal is regarded as a cure for negative energies, especially earth afflictions such as the 5 Yellow and Black 2 that cause both illness and financial difficulties. But metal is a wonderful element that when activated properly can bring patronage luck - the "who you know" kind of energy that separates truly successful people from those with just average success - heaven energy and power, and the all-important water of wealth. Let's take a look at the element of metal. We know from basic grade-school science that metal is a conductor. It conducts energy like electricity and is used to promote the generation of water in feng shui, which in feng shui is shorthand for wealth and prosperity. Its shape in feng shui is either the arch or circle - both have lots of movement. Just think of a coin's round shape and how they are spent and move through circulation, or even a whe

Feng shui - add water or not?

Image
Question: I'm confused. You say to put water by your front door. Our door faces west which means no water. Which do I do: add water or not? Answer: This is a difficult question. It seems simple on the surface and that's why you may think I'm waffling, but I'm not. Typically, the west (metal) is drained by water, but it's not always a bad thing -- especially if you're an east person according to your kua number . There's also flying star feng shui that's more complicated, but might make having water at your particular home a good thing even when on the surface it doesn't seem like it is. This year, you will need extra wealth at your front door, so adding water would be helpful. The "real rule" is like this: if you add water there and things are going well, keep the water. If you add water and are having problems, take it out. And that's true of most feng shui placements. If things are going well and something in your home is &q

The Danger of Peach A Feng Shui Color Warning

Image
The peach is a highly symbolic fruit in Chinese society and the Taoist religion. The plant is imbued with immortality and the wood is thought to keep away evil spirits and entities. The peach flower is also believed to be able to entrance men. Its petals were thought to possess the ability to cast a romantic spell on them and as such is seen as a romantic symbol by the Chinese. But peaches are also symbols of long life. The lore of the peach is that a Goddess invited eight people to her garden where a peach tree had borne fruit after 3,000 years. After eating the peaches, each of the Gods became immortal. Thus, peaches became synonymous with long life and longevity in Chinese culture. The peach is also a common symbol of spring time and represents marriage. Peaches in the bedroom are thought to inspire marriage proposals and be a wonderful feng shui enhancer for singles. But there is a danger with peach.... Peach is the color of infidelity. The use of peach colors is not wi

Business was down

Image
Question: My business was down and so was this sign. I turned my sign around and so did sales. Thank you! Answer: This business owner had a red arrow that pointed the way to the cash register. But what that red arrow really pointed out was that business was "symbolically down." My husband, Tim, often bought flowers in this shop for me and frequently told the owner to turn the arrow up to symbolize that "business was up." Today, I ordered flowers and the store owner told me that ever since turning the arrow up business had really improved. She sent along a picture. It's a big arrow and was making a big statement. Now it's pointed in the right direction -- and the money is following! Using the ancient art of feng shui for better business

Image
It's clear there's a new paradigm in business . Today's clients and customers are savvy, attuned and educated with a sensitivity (some might say allergy) to businesses that don't offer them a unique business experience. They want better service, higher-quality products and more personalization. In short, today's consumers are looking for an experience. This means businesses must sell both their tangible and intangible products and services much like Starbucks sells both drinks and its signature café environment. The smart business pays more attention to today's consumer sensitivities and what appeals to consumers, and creates a business that thrives by meeting those demands. It also looks out for the employee. The workplace is an experiential environment, and devotion to a positive and thriving workplace that supports employees' well-being is the new standard. The employee and customer experience shift is the new business un-usual in the West. In the

Tips clean your house for spring

Image
Question: I'd like to clean my house for spring but don't know how to get started. Do you have any tips? Answer: Cleaning your house thoroughly at the change of seasons does wonder for our psyche -- and our feng shui. It's physically good for us because it eliminates excess dust (often a source of aches and pains) and lifts your spirit. There's a saying that you can do any job with the right tools. And that's true with cleaning too. That's why I would suggest that to begin your spring cleaning, you should start by making sure you have the right tools to clean with. Begin your spring cleaning by organizing your cleaning closet and restocking with new, full containers of cleaners. Pitch those old t-shirts you use for dust rags and get some nice microfiber cloths. Buy a new cleaning item that makes you want to clean -- such as a bendable microfiber wand to dust the top of the fridge or behind the washer and dryer. By getting your spring cleaning closet or

Feng Shui - How Clutter Reflects Your Life

Image
Everything in our life is in some way a reflection of our life. And by everything, I really mean every thing. Our stuff has a tremendous influence over us - our thoughts, our feelings, even our mental clarity, or lack of it, as evidenced by TV shows that portray hoarders. That's because when hoarders over-accumulate, the hoarder no longer even sees the excess. What they see is an extension of themselves to the point they don't see themselves any more: they are one with the clutter. That's why it feels like they're cutting off an arm to remove all the junk. While the majority of people aren't hoarders - of animals or things - the majority of people do have a problem with clutter in one form or another and at varying degrees. Clutter has become a major feng shui focus in the past five or so years because it's a source of stagnation. Even the word clutter is rooted in the word "clot." According to an etymology dictionary the word clutter origi

9 Ways to Gain Fame, Recognition & Business Success

The Importance of the Color of RED Red is hot. No, not right now, but all the time. Red has always been an important color. It's one of the colors we choose most often to symbolize something, making it one of the most common of all colors in national flag designs. The color red is also the color of blood, our life force, so it's no wonder that we're attracted to it. Red energizes us and makes us hungry. That's why so many fast food restaurants use the color red in their designs and logos. Red is also a popular color for dining rooms; it keeps us enjoying the food and makes our dining experience livelier. Red has both negative and positive connotations, but regardless of the connotation, red symbolizes one important element: energy. Whatever red touches, it imbues with extra oomph. That's why, even in the most tranquil rooms, a touch of red is all it takes to keep a room from sliding off into a decorative coma. When it comes to feng shui , red is an ex

Feng Shui Protectors that Back You Up

Image
World Against You? There are times when it feels like you are thwarted at every turn, that unseen energy is preventing you from accomplishing what you want, or, when it's really bad, that the world is against you. At times like these it's helpful to have protectors to call upon. As a practice, feng shui should always be practiced with protection first and foremost and ahead of activation. The simple truth is that there are seen and unseen energies - and both can carry negative intents. That's why we need protectors. Like the friend who comes to your aid from the grade school bully, feng shui can be called on for help. Best of all, feng shui offers a variety of protectors to choose from that range from protecting you from negative people to bodily harm or even business politicking, malicious gossip and backstabbing. Check out these protectors and see if there isn't one that might be helpful for you. Kwan Kung, patron saint of police and wealth. One of t
