How can I keep the water energy in my home

Question: I love having a fountain at the front of my house but as the winter closes in, the fountain will freeze. How can I keep the water energy in my home going, and where should I have water? Answer: That's a great question. Obviously, if you live in a cold area that freezes fountains solid, it's hard to have water running. I recommend that you place water wherever the 1 star of opportunity and victory over the competition resides. In 2014 that area is the southwest. In 2015, the east will host the 1 star, so place a fountain in your home in the east corner or if that's a bedroom or bathroom, place it in the east corner of the living room instead. By the way, the 1 star is VERY happy in the east this year! It's great to activate opportunities for growth, for your family, and for health.

Lost good-paying job

Question: I live at the entrance to my subdivision. My life is in a shambles, we have no money, my husband lost his good-paying job and he has been very sick. Help me fix my life! Answer: You truly have a tough row to hoe. This is one of the most serious poison arrow energies you can have. Your subdivision is like a lot of neighborhoods that have a T-intersection at the entrance. They typically have only one way into the neighborhood and one way out. That means that all day and night, you have people driving straight into your house and then turn either left or right to go to their homes. Even though the cars are aimed more at your driveway and garage than your door, this is still an issue. Because the fact is, every house in the neighborhood that has a car drives in and their cars are aimed directly at your house. This is one of those neighborhood planning issues that I would love to take up with a residential developer. These houses are always up for sale. The turnover is constant be...

Can you give me some quick feng shui tips about swimming pools?

Question: Can you give me some quick feng shui tips about swimming pools? We want to add one to our back yard this summer and I could use your help. Answer: Sure! First, avoid having a square pool and having it directly at the rear of the house. Secondly, it's best if you can't see the pool from your entrance -- this causes severe financial problems and even bankruptcy energy. Third, try to keep the pool smaller rather than larger because the extra water energy can be strong for a house. At least try to balance the pool's size with your home's size. When you have a small house and a large pool, the energy can be overwhelming. Another tip is to make sure the water is yang water. In other words, the pool water should be active. A still pool might be nice to look at but unless you have swimmers in there all the time, the water could become yin. A fountain or aeration device will keep the water active, flowing, and imparting great wealth energy to the home. I love it w...

What can we do to change our bad luck to good luck?

Question: My life is in the dumps. It seems like everything is going from bad to worse. What can we do to change our bad luck to good luck? Answer: Here's some thoughts for you to help you get out of this rut. First of all, when energy moves in one direction, it usually stays in that direction. It's as simple as Newton's first law of physics: an object either remains at rest or continues to move at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by an external force. In other words, the way your life is going is going to remain the same unless you do something. Put another way, you have to be that external force that moves your chi from the direction it's been going in. That said, you should move your furniture around, do a deep cleaning, declutter, move your pictures around in the house, touch up nicks and scratches in your paint and walls, clean and wash off your front door and porch area. If you have dead, dying or spindly plants get rid of these immediately. If you have...

How can I be more efficient at work

Question: How can I be more efficient at work? It seems like my desk is always a mess. Answer: Keeping your desk clean and clear helps you be more effective at work. Try to work with your natural rhythms, though, by clearing off your desk once a day. Either start your day by cleaning your desk and getting yourself ready to work or by ending your day cleaning off your desk so you'll be ready to go in the morning. What I find is that routine, such as always handling bills and desk clutter a certain way every day, is what helps you keep your desk neat and orderly. Question: Can I activate my desk with feng shui? Answer: Yes! I've often written about using feng shui to activate your desk for more prosperity and recognition. One of the things I've talked about is having a desk lamp and putting the things that are meaningful to you under the lamp. This will activate your items -- such as dragons, crystals (for wishes or clear thinking), or horses (for recognition) and...

My kids fighting with each other all the time

Image
Question: What can I do about my kids fighting with each other all the time? Answer: If your children have bedrooms opposite each other, it's that opposition that can foster, well, their opposition. Try hanging a faceted crystal between the two rooms to press down the negativity and assert your motherly influence. If they share a room, adding a crystal between their two beds can also help. Kids need their own space. If they share a room, try creating their own space by hanging curtains or placing dividers that will make them feel like they have their own mini-room in the room they share. Additionally, place a picture of the happy family together in each child's room or the room they share. This will reinforce your happy family and help to see they are part of the larger whole of the family and it's not just their way or the sibling's way. Lastly, inform them that while they don't have to like each other, they do need to be courteous to one another and pleasa...

Doesn't believe in feng shui

Image
Question: A single friend of mine doesn't believe in feng shui but has miserable luck in her life. Her birthday is coming up. Is there something I can give her for her birthday to help her attract better luck in her life? Answer: Aren't you a great friend?! She's lucky to have you that's for sure. Sometimes we want good fortune for others more than we do for ourselves. That's especially true of our children. Some people are closed off and not open and receptive to good fortune. I've learned that when we constantly expect the worst life gives it to us. Never ask "what else can happen," because something else certainly will! :) Back to your question.... I'd buy something for your friend that you like because, as my mother used to tell me, if you like it, your friend will probably like it too. Buy her something pretty with auspicious symbols. I especially likebutterflies because they represent a rebirth and they're also a wonderful symbo...

Feng shui mirrors in the bedroom

Image
Question: I know mirrors in the bedroom are a bad idea. But what should I do about the big mirrored sliding doors on my closet? Answer: Try to cover them. These mirrored doors are very common now, especially in California homes where I've seen them most often. And, they're very bad feng shui. Besides causing marital difficulties, they can also cause insomnia. Take care of them by hanging heavy drapes that can be opened and closed at night. Or, you can place a room divider or screen to the side that you can stretch across the mirrors before going to bed to stop the energy from harming you at night.

My lucky number

Question: My birthday is on the 29th. Is my lucky number 11? Answer: The number 11 is a special number to be sure -- and yes, it would be a lucky number for you. It's a number that is significant because there is a destiny associated with it. People who are 11's have great mental insights and are often psychic. An 11 person can often lead people and frequently have great potential for leadership and positions of authority and power. If you can use it in multiple ways -- such as phone numbers, email addresses, etc., it would be even stronger.

Feng shui - add water or not?

Image
Question: I'm confused. You say to put water by your front door. Our door faces west which means no water. Which do I do: add water or not? Answer: This is a difficult question. It seems simple on the surface and that's why you may think I'm waffling, but I'm not. Typically, the west (metal) is drained by water, but it's not always a bad thing -- especially if you're an east person according to your kua number . There's also flying star feng shui that's more complicated, but might make having water at your particular home a good thing even when on the surface it doesn't seem like it is. This year, you will need extra wealth at your front door, so adding water would be helpful. The "real rule" is like this: if you add water there and things are going well, keep the water. If you add water and are having problems, take it out. And that's true of most feng shui placements. If things are going well and something in your home is ...

Business was down

Image
Question: My business was down and so was this sign. I turned my sign around and so did sales. Thank you! Answer: This business owner had a red arrow that pointed the way to the cash register. But what that red arrow really pointed out was that business was "symbolically down." My husband, Tim, often bought flowers in this shop for me and frequently told the owner to turn the arrow up to symbolize that "business was up." Today, I ordered flowers and the store owner told me that ever since turning the arrow up business had really improved. She sent along a picture. It's a big arrow and was making a big statement. Now it's pointed in the right direction -- and the money is following! Tips clean your house for spring

Image
Question: I'd like to clean my house for spring but don't know how to get started. Do you have any tips? Answer: Cleaning your house thoroughly at the change of seasons does wonder for our psyche -- and our feng shui. It's physically good for us because it eliminates excess dust (often a source of aches and pains) and lifts your spirit. There's a saying that you can do any job with the right tools. And that's true with cleaning too. That's why I would suggest that to begin your spring cleaning, you should start by making sure you have the right tools to clean with. Begin your spring cleaning by organizing your cleaning closet and restocking with new, full containers of cleaners. Pitch those old t-shirts you use for dust rags and get some nice microfiber cloths. Buy a new cleaning item that makes you want to clean -- such as a bendable microfiber wand to dust the top of the fridge or behind the washer and dryer. By getting your spring cleaning closet or...

Female live my life as a male.

Question: I am a transgendered person who was born female, but live my life as a male. Is my kua number based on how I was born or how I see myself? Answer: What an interesting question! There are some energies we can't shift and change. We can alter them, but they are still present. Our birth date is a good example. We may be born on Christmas and celebrate our birthday in July, but it doesn't change the fact that our birthday is still December 25, 1964. The same is true about your kua number. You may be masculine now, but the energy at which your arrived in the world is female. Even so, both genders can express the same number a different way. And both genders can be the same number. For instance, a man can be a 4 kua and so can a woman. As a parting note, I'm a believer that you can make changes -- even deep, fundamental changes such as kua numbers -- or genders as you have obviously done. With that said, you may want to try both kua numbers, as both male and fem...
